UI & Design Systems

I have seen the tools and methods around the creation of design systems develop over time since the start of my career in 2008. I've created design systems from scratch and have worked with some of the most renowned design systems in the industry.

I build design systems that bring consistency and visual impact to products, including unique colour palettes and brand guidelines that make designs stand out. My work also includes a focus on following WCAG 2.2 guidelines.

Industry frameworks

Industry leading design systems I have worked and used in my design include:

GOV.UK design system

I have worked with the GOV.UK design system whilst working on GOV.UK projects, but also used it as a basis to re-create a design system for Southwark Council.

BBC GEL

While working on BBC Music & Radio (now BBC Sounds) I used the BBC GEL design system to create UI designs for the homepages, and BBC Music & Radio history project and BBC Sign in experience.

Aviva Framework

I used the Aviva framework while working on the My Aviva France product, and Aviva.co.uk products. While I was at Aviva the design system was in it's infancy. It has now developed into a robust, leading edge desisgn system.

Guardian Design System

I was at The Guardian when the design system was moving over to Figma and being developed as not only a brand style guide but as an accessible design system, for designs used by millions of readers.

Southwark Council

Southwark Council had a website created for them by an agency but the design aesthetic and usability of it wasn't in line with the direction the digital team wanted, so I built a new one for them.

Reside Admissions App

I worked wth Reside Admissions to enhance their existing design system, make it accessible for a primarily older audience. I created a digital refresh that created a more modern, cleaner and simple UI.

Christies.com

While working for Christies I created sign in and registration flows, which included the development of new design system components.

Ambassador Theatre Group

At Ambassador Theatre Group I designed a completely new 'Producer Portal' product, which involved designing new components to add to the team design system.

Creation of my own design system

I am currently working on the creation of my own design system for my own website development as a side project. This involves creating a design system across Responsive
Web, iOS and Android.
